HOCKEY ROUND-UP: Stourport Men’s seconds rose to the top of the 2nd XI Midlands Premier with a 3-2 win over Warwick.

Two goals from Adam Leeke gave the visitors a 2-1 lead, but their hosts equalised late on to give the match the look of a draw.

However, Callum Stanley's incredible top corner dray flick just at the final whistle sealed the three points for Stourport.

The under-strength thirds went down 4-1 against Barford.

Stourport could only field 10 players and were under pressure straight from the start in their visit to Barford.

The visitors defended well despite the pressure, but conceded two soft goals before half-time.

Stourport came out strongly in the second period, winning a number of short corners, and the visitors pulled a goal back through Jon Yates.

The extra man began to tell as the half progressed though, as Barford scored late on to finish 4-1 victors.

The fourths edged out Warwick University in a scrappy match.

Stourport dominated but were unable to score more than the one goal.

Warwick had a rare chance in the first half but it was dramatically cleared off the line by the consistently unflappable Mike Taylor.

At the other end of the field, Jacob Hucker had the measure of the Warwick defence, running through them with ease before squandering several chances.

Midway through the second half one such drive resulted in a short corner, which was converted by Martin Tucker, with a flick to the top left corner that the home keeper could only deflect down into the goal.

Warwick pushed forward for some late attacks but they were well defended by the Stourport defence, resulting in a victory for the visitors. Stourport fifths were five alive after seeing off Sutton Coldfield 5-1 to maintain their 100 per cent record this season.

A fourth successive win was largely down to man-of-the-match David Bedford, who ruthlessly exposed some generally poor defending throughout from the Sutton defence.

Bedford was rewarded with a clinically taken hat-trick and there were also further goals by Rob Claris and John Shackleton.

A Stourport ladies side collected a friendly win again against Bromsgrove thirds.

Lucy and Keeley Hawkes scored in a 3-0 win.

A mixed fifths and six side saw off Bromsgrove fourths 3-0, with Rosie Connolly (2) and Hannah Terry on target.
