BEWDLEY Town manager Phil Mullen believes his side are improving, despite two defeats in the last week.

Town suffered double disappointment this week when they lost two games to Malvern Town.

Last Tuesday, Bewdley drew 3-3 with their Worcestershire rivals only to lose on penalties in the Worcestershire Senior Urn.

On Saturday, Town then lost 4-1 to Malvern in the West Midlands League Premier.

He said: “We are creating plenty chances but I am afraid we’re not taking them.

“In the Worcestershire Senior Urn I thought we were better side.

“We had played a few lads who hadn’t featured much recently and they did very well.

“We trailed 3-1 and got back into the game and it was unfortunate to lose on penalties.

“I changed things around on Saturday and we took the lead but we made mistakes at the back which cost us dearly.

“The errors came from decision-making and meant we were trailing 3-1 at half time.

“We huffed and puffed in the second half but could not get back into the match.

“What’s important is that we are very much in games and I am confident some team is going to get it.”

Bewdley are 17th in the table and they face Bilston Academy at home this weekend (3pm kick-off).

Mullen added: “Our league position tells a story but I am confident that we’re not very far from going on a very good run.

“We’ve got a good looking squad for Saturday and everyone’s available.”

Bewdley then go to Bromyard in the Premier League Cup next Wednesday (7.45pm kick-off).
