WYRE Forest Swimming Club hosted the first round of the Ross PGL League in West Bromwich.

The Ross League is aimed at younger swimmers and for some it was their first taste of a racing competition.

Individual first places on the night went to William Garner (12/u 50m backstroke), Poppy Stant (12/u 50m back), Mia Walton (11/u 25m freestyle), Erin Freer (10/u 25m butterfly), Alfie Myers (12/u 50m breaststroke), Tyler Elwell (10/u 25m freestyle). Alexandra Hayes (10/u 25m freestyle), Mollie Bellingham (13/14 50m breaststroke), Ella Rowley (10/u 25m backstroke) and Ben Goddard (11/u 25m backstroke)..

The club’s relay teams also put in excellent performances, with Ella Rowley, Alexandra Hayes, Erin Freer and Abigail Smith winning the 10/u medley relay.

The team of Robert Darbyshire, Alfie Myers, Nathaniel Crowther and William Garner won both the 12/u medley and freestyle relays and the 12/u freestyle relay.

There was also double relay success for Poppy Stant, Chloe Lawson, Olivia Bellingham and Maisie Lane.

Wyre Forest also won the girls all ages 10x1 freestyle relay with the team of Lillie Grover, Alexandra Hayes, Jasmine Preedy, Olivia Bellingham, Mollie Bellingham, Ella Goddard, Abigail Smith, Mia Walton, Poppy Stant and Abbey Tarpey.

A massive 71 new personal best times were achieved, helping Wyre Forest to finish a fantastic second over all.

The club came second with with 134 points, with Cheltenham top with 161.
