GIFTED Far Forest rugby player Beck Cutting has had a brilliant season.

The youngster was a key player as Bromsgrove School won the NatWest Cup at Twickenham this month.

The Worcestershire team defeated Wakefield’s Queen Elizabeth Grammar School 18-10 in the under-18s final.

Cutting produced a man-of-the-match display, scoring two tries.

The game was watched by Saracens and England hooker Jamie George, who said: “It is so promising to see such talented young players taking part in the NatWest Schools Cup and being given the opportunity to prove themselves on the biggest stage of all, at Twickenham.

“I still have fond memories from my playing days at Haileybury and I have been really impressed with the quality on show, particularly from Bromsgrove.

“I hope they cherish the win and that we see these promising young players follow the pathway many of the England squad have taken, from the NatWest Schools Cup, through the age-grade system and onto representing their country.”

The Bewdley-based youngster started playing tag rugby at Kidderminster Carolinas at the age of eight.

Since then he has been heavily involved in rugby, through Bromsgrove School, Worcestershire County, North Midlands and Midlands.

He was also recently called-up for England Under-18s and helped them to a 39-15 win over Scotland.

Beck has received an invitation to play for England U-18s in the Five Nations contest. He has already been capped for England and the school has his shirt framed.
