BEWDLEY Town drew a blank over Easter with a goalless draw at Dudley Sports.

But Bewdley had enough chances to breach what is becoming the meanest defence in the West Midlands League at the moment as Sports have only conceded one goal in their last six games.

Bewdley spokesman Steve Godfrey said: "Sports only had one real chance throughout the game when they struck the post. We spurned three golden chances, one of which was saved by the goalkeeper while the other two just went over the crossbar.

"Despite the dreadful weather conditions, it was a good game to watch - but if the game had started any later, it wouldn't have finished at all as the pitch resembled a lake by the end."

Although Bewdley face a backlog of fixtures, they have no game this Saturday and must wait until next Tuesday, April 5 for their next outing, away to high flying Wolves Sporting Community.

Godfrey added: "It does seem quite strange, because in the last week of the season, we will be playing four games in eight days.

"The only side free this Saturday is Dudley Town - and we've already played them twice!

Bewdley lost out in the Worcester Infirmary Cup late last week when going down 1-0 to Midland League side Littletons courtesy of an 85th minute goal.

Littletons now face either Malvern Town or Bromyard Town in the final.
