KIDDERMINSTER CC cantered into the next stage of the Graham Williamson Trophy with a commanding seven wicket win over local rivals Ombersley.

And the Chester Road side will be hoping history repeats itself this Saturday when Kidderminster commence their Birmingham League Premier Division campaign when they host Ombersley again.

Kidderminster easily chased down Ombersley's modest total of 166 all out, acting skipper Neil Pinner leading the charge by plundering 65 not out while Mike Hill hit 62 and Craig Wood added 27.

However Kidderminster have crashed out of the National Clubs Knockout without balling a ball.

Kidderminster had to concede their proposed contest with Walmley after being unable to raise a side last Sunday.

Neil Pinner explained: "We had players away on Minor Counties duties and others had commitments that we had to concede the tie. It's a shame."

Kidderminster are without experienced seam bowler Gareth Williams who is still recovering from knee surgery but should have Worcestershire's Chris Russell available to open the bowling attack following his switch from Wolverhampton and should take the new ball along with Connor Smith.

But Kidderminster must make do without skipper Matt Pardoe because of his role as Director of Cricket at Sherbourne School in Dorset while Nathan round has similar commitments with King Edwards School in Birmingham.

Pinner added: "Matt Pardoe will continue to lead the side whenever available, but in his absence we have brought in Liam Weston from Worcester CC and promising youngster Ryan Wheldon who is currently with Worcestershire's Academy."
