THERE was success for Stourport Boat Club as they secured four wins in the second regatta of the season at Evesham last weekend.
More than 35 clubs from across the country met to race on the 500-metre River Avon course in chilly but bright conditions.
Stourport faced opposition from Monmouth, Llandaff, Swansea and Staines, as well as their local rivals from Warwick, Worcester, Stratford and Evesham.
The first race of the day in the men's MasC&E.4+ saw the Wyre Forest outfit reach the semi-finals before being pipped at the line by the Evesham crew.
Racing for the first time, the men's Novice 4+ of Andy White, Adrian Palmer, Steve Smith and John Hurdman, coxed by Kez Danks, rowed well but couldn’t overcome Llandaff.
Stourport coxless ladies of Sara Peace, Liz Danby, Annie Conway and Jane Ryman took a well-earned win in the W.MasD.4x- event.
Finishing a good day in the Master’s category, Stuart Peace and Pete Lloyd beat Evesham in the MasE 2x final.
Stourport’s junior squad secured wins in the WJ13 4x+ and J13x events.
In the WJ13 quad, Annabelle Murphy, Sophie DiMambro, Christina Butcher and Harriet Murphy, coxed by Georgina Luxton, took victory by half a length against Ross RC in the final.
In the J13 event, Dan Glover overcame his opposition from Ross to take home his winning pot.
