THERE were some excellent performances from the Samurai Judo Club juniors at the club’s open orange and under competition, with the youngsters gaining four gold medals, five silvers and 10 bronzes.

In the boys red belts, Josh Walker took bronze in the lightest weight group.

In the next weight group, Zach Main took silver and Harrison Flello bronze.

Alex Spencer powered to his the club’s first gold of the day and Mateo Allen bagged a bronze.

In the girls red belts, Lola Grosvenor bagged her fourth gold, while Katy Jennings took silver.

There were silver and bronze respectively for Teigan Newbury and Meghann O’Sullivan.

In the first of the girls higher grade groups, Bonnie Deeming-Lane had to settle for silver. Lily Deeming-Lane bagged bronze and Cerys Jones reached the final and earned silver.

Dan Hickinbottom won bronze in the boys higher grades and there was a bronze for Toby Grosvenor, Dillon Walker added a bronze to Samurai’s tally and in the next category, Callum Spencer clinched gold and Stuey Main bronze.

In the final category, Martin Allen battled to the last four to secure a bronze, while Spencer Benton won the club’s fourth gold.
