KIDDERMINSTER produced their strongest performance of the season in the Birmingham League Premier to stun in-form Barnt Green and bag local bragging rights at Chester Road.

Green had went into the game on the back of two wins in a row and ambitions of challenging at the top of the table but the hosts, who had lost four of their opening six matches, turned the tables with an impressive bowling display.

Leading the charge was youngster Connor Smith, who produced his best display for the club and finished with figures of 5-21.

Smith also tore through Green's high quality top order, dismissing William Baker (0), Sam Cheshire (0), Ed Pollock (29) and Matt Powell (0) as Green were reduced to 35-4.

Green also suffered a setback when the in-form Matt Lamb picked up an injury.

Richard Kimberlin produced a good spell of bowling to take last three wickets for 21 runs as the visitors were dismissed for 101.

Neil Pinner took two catches and Jon Wright one as Lee Tyrrell (8), Harrison Moncrieff (0) and Adam Hines (19) departed leaving the previously injured Lamb not out without scoring.

The other two wickets takers were Liam Weston and Charlie Stainforth with one each.

Kidderminster lost two wickets in winning the match. Andy Kimberlin (9) was caught by Pollock bowled Andy Sutton, and then Green's captain bowled Craig Wood who had scored 38.

But the experienced duo of Jonathan Wright (15) and skipper Neil Pinner (36) steered Kidderminster to 102-2 in 20 overs.

With their confidence boosted, Kidderminster take on fourth-placed Walsall.

Chair of selectors Ian Kimberlin said: "The bowlers provided us with a fantastic start and the batsmen did a great job of making sure we saw it through.

"It was a great win because Barnt Green were in good form. We've had two good wins sandwiching a poor loss to Knowle and Dorridge so we're a little bit up and down.

"Connor Smith had his best figures for the firsts and he's matured into a good player."

Kidderminster followed up that result up on Sunday with a 51 run success over Stourbridge in the Birmingham League Twenty20 Challenge Cup.

Stourbridge won the toss and invited Kidderminster to bat and they made 171-6.

Despite e a superb innings of 56 from Josh Banks, Stourbridge made 120-6 in reply.

KCC will play Barnards Green at home in the next round on Wednesday, June 22 (6.30pm ko).
