STOURPORT put rivals Droitwich to the sword when they rolled them out for just 37 runs in the Worcester County League Division One.

On what proved an under-prepared and wet batting track, Stourport had no hesitation in electing to field after winning an important toss.

Opening bowlers Lee Waldron and Ryan Derrick soon caused early damage, Waldron picking up four wickets while Derrick took two more, the bowlers being backed up by some splendid Stourport fielding and catching.

First change bowlers Steve Yarsley and Mike Pratt then got in on the act as they blew away the Droitwich tailenders, Pratt returning the impressive figures of three for one.

Stourport didn’t hang about in reply as they knocked off the required runs in seven overs, although they did lose three wickets in the process as they pulled off a seven wicket win.

Stourport look to continue their winning spree when they take on Hereford side Burghill and Tillington this Saturday.

The seconds went down to Redditch in what proved a very close and high scoring affair.

Redditch racked up 283 when batting first with Chris Parry taking three wickets with his off-spin.

Stourport fell six runs short when they replied after getting off to a great start through Parry with 40 and David Pittaway who made 58.
