BEWDLEY came down to earth with a crushing defeat at the hands of Pedmore in Worcestershire League Division One.
The Wyre Forest side had bowled well initially and at the half way mark Pedmore had only reached 58-1, with Martyn Carr and Andy Platt both economical.
However, the floodgates then opened, and the second half of the innings was very different.
Pedmore raced along at seven an over, and all the bowlers suffered, though Jack Mills, aided by three boundary catches from Simon Mauger, picked up five wickets.
Chasing 236, Bewdley desperately needed a good start, and this is precisely what they didn’t get.
Paul Taylor (5-21) took the first five wickets, and Bewdley found themselves at 42-5 after 20 overs.
There was a show of resistance from Dan Platt (23) and Mills (24), but James Burgoyne (4-15) polished off the tail, and Bewdley slipped to defeat in front of a large, but disappointed, crowd. They visit Belbroughton on Saturday.
