MARTIAL ARTS: Students from Kidderminster’s Young Gloves Karate Club returned from the WKU European Championships in Frankfurt with six medals.
The 12-strong squad were in great form on their debut at the competition, which boasted 2,000 fighters in action.
Despite at least 60 fighters in each category, Young Gloves fighters raised their game. There was gold for Greg Gowland in the kumite and silvers for Samantha Thomas (kata), Ben Gowland (kumite) and Harry Griffiths (kumite). Ellis Homer and Jake Allen-Brunn both bagged kumite bronze.
