TRIMPLEY Sailing Club played host to a GP14 Open Meeting at their Severn Valley base.

The competition attracted a total of three travellers and 11 home boats.

The travellers often have to contend with unpredictable winds at Trimpley, but the combination of Peter Jakes and Hayley Ramadhal from the Chase club certainly knew how to read and use them as they won the event with two firsts and were able to discard a second placing for good measure.

Their only real rivals proved Sam Watson and Andy Hunter from Nantwich who arrived late for the event and could only sail in the second and third race where they claimed a first and second placing.

The first Trimpley boat home was crewed by Phil Quarry and his young son Daniel, which proved a very creditable effort as Daniel couldn't fly a spinnaker.
