STOURPORT will look to get back to winning ways when they take on Boldmere St Michaels this Saturday.

Swifts suffered back-to-back defeats with a 2-0 loss at Lye Town last Saturday but will be hoping for better when Boldmere visit Walshes Meadow (3pm kick-off).

Their weekend opponents sit just one place below in 19th in the Midland Football League's Premier Division.

Stourport will be hoping stronger links with neighbours Kidderminster Harriers will help them climb the league.

The two sides will now be working closely together during the course of the season to help continue player development.

A number of Harriers’ young players are due to spend time with Swifts during the coming months to gain key first-team match experience.

Dan Sweeney is already part-way through an initial one-month spell and netted his first goal for the club in the win over Tividale.

Striker George Taylor is also set to move to Stourport ahead of this weekend.

Swifts chairman Pip Hanson said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Stourport Swifts to increase the strength of our first team squad, and for the Harriers to give some of their promising youngsters some first team action in a competitive league.”

Harriers chairman Colin Gordon added: “With no reserve side we have been looking for some time to find a means of giving some of our most promising players experience in a competitive environment.

“Some of our young, contracted players as well as players who are making real progress with our academy will really benefit from this, and it’s great for us to know they they’re being taken care of at Stourport where the set-up is really good.”
