BEWDLEY boss Phil Mullen believes his team will go from strength to strength – as soon as they become more solid at the back.

Town lost 3-2 on penalties in the Worcestershire Senior Urn against Bromsgrove Sporting after the clash had ended 2-2 on Tuesday night.

But that followed a barnstorming 5-4 victory at AFC Bridgnorth last Saturday.

Mullen said: “We can’t have any complaints about the defeat against Bromsgrove because we were second best for most of the game. We did well to come back from two goals down to take the game that far.

“The Bridgnorth game was a poor day for defences. I’m really pleased with the amount of goals we are scoring and we could have won 4-0. But every time we scored at one end we let one in at the other.

“We just need to tighten up at the back now. If we can do that without sacrificing our threat at the other end then it will be a big plus for us.”

Bewdley welcome Cradley Town this Saturday looking to build on their recent good form.

Meanwhile, Mullen says the club’s new reserve side is having a positive impact this season.

“We have more options because of the reserves,” added the boss. “It is proving to be a good link to the first team from the club’s age-group sides.”
