MARK Southall claimed the clubhouse bragging rights from a field of more than 60 players at Cleobury Mortimer’s double roll-up.

The weekend action saw several players reduce their handicaps in a highly-competitive outing in which steady scorer John Westley led with 38 early on Saturday.

Rich Smith look the lead by soaring to 40 by the end of the afternoon, posting what looked to be a tough total to beat heading into Sunday’s action.

But despite the chilly weather, the members grew in stature with Tom Neath shooting 38 points with a blob on the last to join Westley.

Neath’s partner Ade Powell overhauled his friend on 39 points but the weekend belonged to Southall who defied a quiet season to score 42.

"My putting was absolutely great, I sank nearly every one and that made the difference,” said Southall.
