STOURPORT Hockey Club's ladies fifth XI were on the wrong end of a 7-1 home defeat to Kings Heath Pickwick's second XI in the Worcestershire third division.

The damage was done in the opening half of this match which saw the visitors slice through the home defence like butter. Heath's passing was slick and accurate leaving the Stourport defence struggling to cope.

After early missed chances goals flowed easily as one soon became three and four, a penalty flick added a fifth for the visitors and a deflection in the last few minutes of the half left even the scorer baffled about what had happened - she didn't know she had scored until her team mates told her.

A shocked and dumbfounded Stourport side shuffled positions at the break to stifle the freedom enjoyed by the visiting forwards in the first half.

For Heath it meant a hole had been plugged, for Stourport it meant they could begin to build and create their own chances.

There were still scares for the home side, when their player of the match, keeper, Gemma Taylor-Robinson, prevented a goal with the back of her stick, another penalty flick had to be faced.

Taylor-Robinson saved the shot, the home side were lifted and the match began to open up. The next goal was to fall to Stourport, the ball looped over the Heath's kicking back, fell to Caroline Yates, who looped the ball over the a defender on the line. Heath added a seventh, and a match that was had been lost in the first thirty five minutes was put beyond Stourport's reach.

Stourport's men's third XI lost their final Midland League 1 match, before the Christmas break when they travelled to Barford Tigers. Trailing 4-0 at the break goals from Jack Stokes, Jacob Hucker, and Sam Drew, were not enough to secure the points with their hosts scoring another two goals in the second half to win 6-3.

While the thirds were losing away to Barford Tigers, their clubmates in the fourth XI were entertaining and beating another side from Barford 6-0, in the Central League West Midlands Premiership. Goalscorers for Stourport were: Martin Tucker, Triston Hubbard, captain David Shepherd, Jon Yates, Dom Roberts, and David Knott.
