KIDDERMINSTER Cricket Club can expect a changing of the guard next season as a number of key players from the side which finished runners-up in the Birmingham League have indicated they will be leaving Chester Road.

Former long serving skipper Jonathan Wright, strike bowler Gareth Williams and prolific all-rounder Mike Hill have confirmed they will be playing cricket elsewhere next season.

The experienced Wright has returned to lead former club Old Hill who will be coming to terms with relegation to the third tier of Birmingham League cricket next season.

Williams will be turning out for Bromsgrove in Birmingham League Division One, while Minor Counties man Hill has returned to play cricket in his native Staffordshire.

Former Worcester and Leicestershire player Neil Pinner has now been appointed as captain at Kidderminster next season, taking over the reins from former Worcestershire county colleague Matt Pardoe and said: "It's a big blow losing these players, but they go with our best wishes.

"I think Jonathan Wright is looking to finish his career at Old Hill where he has strong family connections.

"The same applies with Gareth Williams at Bromsgrove as both his children play there and Gareth also helps out with the coaching.

"We didn't see too much of Gareth last season because of injuries, so I don't know how much he is planning to play for Bromsgrove.

"Mike Hill is a loss. He did really well last season and it's going to take a big player to replace him."

Kidderminster have already made arrangements to bring in Worcestershire's England Under-19 pace bowling prospect George Scrimshaw who is currently a first year professional at New Road.

Previous skipper Matt Pardoe has already confirmed he will feature for Kidderminster whenever possible when away from his duties at Sherbourne School in Dorset.
