STOURPORT Swifts let a two-goal lead slip as they had to settle for a point at home to Long Eaton United last Saturday.

Swifts remain on the edge of the Midland Football League Premier Division dropzone after failing to go on and claim the win.

They had led 2-0 after an own goal and a strike from Aaron Lloyd but were pegged back on the stroke of half time.

Long Eaton then levelled matters in the 53rd minute to claim a share of the spoils.

"It was very disappointing because we were cruising at one stage but then still had the chances to win it after they got level," said manager Mark Phillips.

"We conceded just before the end of the first half, which was a terrible time to let them back in and give them a lift for the second half. We should have got the ball up the pitch and got in at the break, but instead we have been caught trying to play the ball out of defence.

Stourport are now three games without defeat and will be looking for more vital points when they go to Rocester this Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Phillips added: "If we'd have got the win we could maybe have gone to Rocester and relaxed a little and maybe been happy with a point. But now we need to go for it because we need to try and move away from the relegation places."
