Stourport ladies smash six as they return to league summit

The ladies took a 3-0 lead with a twelfth-minute goal by Lora Symonds, followed by a strike on 17 minutes from Claire Pearson and the first of a brace of goals for Sarah Parkinson-Mills three minutes later.

Trojans pulled a goal back through Emma Teague from a penalty corner but a second from Parkinson-Mills meant Stourport had a 4-1 lead at half time.

Within a minute of the restart Stourport were 5-1 up after Heidi Devey scored and a second by Pearson, in the sixty first minute, rounded off the victory.

This weekend the ladies will be entertaining Swansea at The Kingsway with 2pm hit back.

The club's ladies second XI came back from being two goals down at the break to earn a point in their 2-2, draw, against Loughborough Students seconds, at The Kingsway in a Midland Division 1 match.

Both sides applied pressure in the opening moments, Stourport had the upper hand however, it was Loughborough who went ahead, when the ball hit the post to leave a Loughborough forward with the easiest of tap ins.

The visitors extended their lead from a corner to make it 2-0 at the break.

Stourport piled on the pressure after the restart and Rachel Howells smashed home for their first after a corner.

The equaliser came from a counter attack lead by Jodi Vincent, whose clam and composed style allowed her to flick the ball past the keeper to draw the scores level.

Stourport could have sealed the three points, in the dying seconds, as Lottie Atkinson, carried the ball towards visitors D, only to be denied, by the Loughborough keeper, who saved the shot.

Both Stourport and Loughborough move down places due to this result. Stourport move down to seventh and Loughborough drop to third in the division.

Stourport ladies third XI consolidated second place in Worcestershire Division One, after they beat their hosts Harborne thirds, 5-0.

After losing to second placed Old Halesonains' first XI earlier in the season, Stourport ladies fourth XI were keen to gain revenge at The Kingsway.

They did so with a 7-2 victory in their top of the table clash in the Worcestershire First Division. Stourport took the lead in the first few minutes through 13-year-old Maddie Shaw, who was making her debut for the senior sides.

The home sided changed to three in defence and added a second before Old Hales hit back with a goal to make it 2-1.

The home side added another five goals including a brace from Smith, and single goals from Pauline Knott, Alice Caldwell, Sharon Smith, Lou Marshall, and another 13-year-old making her ladies debut, Lucy McLoughlin, with only one added in reply by Old Hales.

This 7-2 victory pushes the Wyre Forest ladies, up to second, as their visitors went down to third in the table Stourport ladies fifth XI won their first league match of the Worcestershire third Division campaign 3-2 against top of the table hosts Harborne fifths.

In the opening minutes Stourport had to weather the storm as Harborne pressed the Stourport defence.

As the half progressed the visitors began to claim a foothold in the match and slowly the balance of the play began to tip in Stourport's favour however it was Harborne who scored first.

The home side were not ahead for long after Stourport fought back with a break that resulted in Lou Marshall, levelling the scores before the break.

The second half was an end-to end contest before the tenacity of Stourport's Denise Goodwin, paid dividends, as she forced it over the line.

The visitors lead only lasted a matter of minutes, Harborne attacked and were back on level terms, when a shot from an impossibly acute angle found it's way into the goal.

Stourport had the last work when added a third.

Stourport men's fourth XI made it fourteen wins out fourteen matches in the Central League West Midlands Premiership.

Despite being a goal down at half time they beat visitors Sutton Coalfield, 3-1.

Second half goals by Rob Lashford, Martin Tucker, and Steve Ellis, ensured that the fourth's winning ways continued into another week.
