BELEAGUERED Bewdley Town are attempting to play their next home game at Stourport Swifts as their Ribbesford Meadow pitch remains in the grip of waterlogging.

Bewdley were forced to call off last Saturday’s re-arranged game with Smethwick Rangers which now leaves them falling behind with their fixtures.

Secretary Steve Godfrey said: “It’s really frustrating because the pitch was playable last Thursday following all the high winds. But Saturday’s rain left the pitch with two bad areas and the referee decided that it wasn’t safe to play.

“Swifts have no home fixture for the next three weeks and have kindly offered us the use of their pitch as have Bromyard Town.

“The irony was that we called off the reserve team game who were due to be at home the same time so we could accommodate Smethwick. It turned out that the reserve team pitch would have been playable,”

Bewdley are due to visit second placed Wolves Sporting Community next Tuesday.
