COOKLEY Girls extended their lead in the CWGFL Premier League to 12 points with a 1-0 home win against second placed Worcester City and maintain their unbeaten record.
Worcester set out to contain and defended superbly, looking to the counter attack whenever possible.
Cookley were willing to be patient and created several chances from the wide areas, Caitlyn Walton and Roxy Carter both havd excellent performances down the wings.
Chances came and went and the game seemed destined for stalemate until Abigail Lawson converted a wonderfully delivered corner from Jess Brett, scooping the ball over her shoulder from close range into the corner of the net with the last kick of the game.
Cookley play Coventry United in the semi-final of the Open Cup next Saturday.
