STOURPORT Swifts took a big step towards safety with a 3-1 win over third-placed Lye Town last Saturday.

Second half goals from Sam Beasley, Matt Fulloway and Dan Sweeney saw Swifts grab a vital three points in their quest for survival in the Midland Football League Premier Division.

Manager Mark Phillips was delighted as his side bagged their first win in five games.

He said: "We did really well and hit back after two disappointing results previously.

"The win shows exactly what this side is capable of and the challenge now is to carry that forward.

"It's a real fight down at the bottom and there's still a lot of work to be done."

Swifts will look to edge further from the bottom three when they travel to Quorn this Saturday, which is the first of their final eight fixtures this season.

They will be without suspended goalkeeper Dominic Richards but will bring in Harriers loanee Tom Palmer to deputise.
