BEWDLEY Town were forced to switch this week's game with Shifnal Town to Ludlow while their Ribbesford Meadow ground remains waterlogged.

But the switch to Shropshire went down well with the players as they pulled off a 6-1 win.

Sam Lester got the ball rolling with a brace of goals before top marksman Lewis Pountney, Corey Rudd and new signing from Cradley Town Luke Williams added to the scoreline which was completed by Shifnal's George Williams who managed to score at both ends!

Bewdley spokesman Steve Godfrey insisted: "The scoreline flattered Shifnal as we created enough chances to have reached double figures!

With more rain likely this week, Bewdley have done a deal with Ludlow to play more of their home matches there.

Steve Godfrey added: "The pitch was perfect at Ludlow. They play in the Herefordshire League which doesn't involve so many matches.

"We've still got 12 league games to play, 10 of which are at home. With the prospect of more rain to come, we've had to look at alternative venues.

"But we are hoping to hear from the FA very shortly as to whether we've been successful with our grant application for work on the pitch.

"Obviously we'd like to play at home, but we have to make contingency plans as the West Midlands League season must be completed by April 29 and the FA won't extend the season any further.

"As a result, we're resigned to playing three times a week, but we've also got cup matches which must be taken into consideration.

"We're still in the quarter finals of both the Worcester Infirmary Cup and the Smedley Crook Cup!

Bewdley boss Phil Mullen has responded by adding Worcester based goalkeeper Marc Wright to his squad from Southern League side Bishops Cleeve along with Luke Williams.

Steve Godfrey added: "We still want to finish as high as possible to give ourselves a chance of qualifying for next season's FA Cup."
