TWO Kidderminster junior cricketers topped the table in bowling and batting in club youth cricket across the county last season.

Dylan Griffiths, aged 12, was leading wicket taker in the Worcestershire Cricket Board Competitions with 28 to his name, and Joe Miszkowski, aged 14, led the runs with 534 and a highest score of 96.

Other Kidderminster players also figured in the top 10 and are enjoying a good start to this season.

All-rounder Matt Hatfield finished seventh in the bowling tables having taken 19 wickets and eighth in batting with 348 runs.

Just three games into this season, Hatfield, aged 14, is in top spot with 115 runs and Kidderminster’s Joe Hallowell, aged 13, is 10th with 58 runs.

Another 14-year-old, Rhodri Morson, finished 10th in last season’s batting table with 317 runs and is currently the second highest wicket taker with eight off just 9.3 overs including a five-wicket haul.

Sam Wright, aged 12, narrowly missed a top 10 spot in the bowling table, finishing 11th last season with 18 wickets.

KCC junior section chairman Sarah Beadsworth said: “Cricket is a passion for these players and their hard work and dedication is paying dividends. Their results are to be congratulated and as a club we are very proud of them.

“Individuals can shine in cricket, but it is a team sport as well and we have dozens of other players who are also developing their game, working hard, having fun and helping create good results.”
