KIDDERMINSTER skipper Neil Pinner praised his side's performance despite a narrow defeat at Knowle and Dorridge.

The clash went down to the penultimate ball of the day as the home side managed to complete their chase and secure the points.

KCC made 317-5 from their 55 overs thanks to a sublime unbeaten 160 from opener Craig Wood.

He was well supported by number three Pinner's 75, including eight fours and one six, and Connor Smith's 37.

However, Wood's knock was surpassed by Knowle opener George Worker. The New Zealander made a well measured 169 not out to guide his side to victory.

Pinner is keen to take the positives from the performance despite his side's failure to come out on top.

He said: "It was frustrating that we didn't win it but pleasing because it was a really top performance from us.

"We have struggled with the bat at times but we managed to get runs on the board. Hopefully we can take that forward.

"Craig Wood put in a brilliant performance with the bat and we batted well around him to post a good score.

"We knew it was a good pitch and we'd have to bowl well but were happy with the score we posted.

"We didn't bowl poorly at all but hats off to George Worker for batting so sensibly for so long during the chase. He's a talented player that's featured for New Zealand and will win more games this season.

"If we bat and bowl like that on a regular basis we will certainly win more games this season. There are a lot of positives to build on."

Kidderminster will be looking to push themselves out of the bottom two in the Birmingham and District League's Premier Division when they go to West Bromwich Dartmouth this Saturday (noon start).

They could welcome back wicketkeeper Tom Kimberlin from a broken finger.

Bowler George Scrimshaw is also nearing a return following a stress fracture.
