KIDDERMINSTER skipper Neil Pinner hopes a win over Wolverhampton this Saturday will help kick-start his side's stuttering campaign.

KCC remain second from bottom in the Birmingham and District League Premier Division after a nine-wicket defeat at West Bromwich Dartmouth last weekend.

But with Saturday's opponents sitting just one place above, Pinner thinks the game at Chester Road could offer a big opportunity for his side to return to winning ways (noon start).

He said: "It's a massive game against Wolverhampton. They are near us in the table and it's a game we want to win.

"We haven't quite kick-started our season yet but hopefully we can start to build some momentum heading into the next few weeks.

"We will start to have more options again soon with players returning so it would be a big positive if we could pick up a win at home this weekend."

Kidderminster could only make 179 after winning the toss and choosing to bat at West Bromwich Dartmouth last Saturday.

Andrew Kimberlin (58), Charlie Stainforth (24) and Pinner (32) made a decent start to their innings before wickets began to fall as spinner Sultan Afsal started to cause problems.

In reply, Kadeer Ali's unbeaten 76 at the top of the order helped his side to success.

The hosts only lost one wicket when Pinner bowled Amit John for 68.

Pinner said: "We won the toss and chose to bowl on a dry wicket that we thought would get harder to bowl on as the game went on.

"We played well for the first 20 overs and made a solid start. We were 203-2 when I was out but then struggled against the spin.

"Afsal bowled really well and we just couldn't combat that.

"We then struggled to build any pressure with the ball because we had such a low score.

"Hopefully it is just a blip and we can move on quickly."
