STOURPORT’S topsy-turvy season continued with a single wicket victory at Colwall in the Worcestershire County League Division One.

After electing to bat, Colwall got off to a stuttering start when finding themselves at 45-3, but the middle order rallied thanks to the innings of Nick Panniers (40) and Ben Febery (58).

Stourport were able to bowl the home side out for 190, giving themselves a decent scoreline to beat.

Greg Massingham went through the lower order of Colwall like a hot knife through butter, dispatching four of the hosts for just 29 runs, while Lee Waldron took 2-27 on a good day for the bowlers.

However, Stourport’s start was reminiscent of that of Colwall’s with the visitors finding themselves on 46-3, but Mitchell Dwyers’s 74 not out gave the side a bit of breathing space.

Andrew Siwicki (29) and Massingham (13) helped push Stourport to victory – with the away side ending up on 193-9.

The win leaves Stourport languishing in seventh place in the table, but the Walshes Farm Meadows side will hope to build on the positive result when they host second-from-bottom Eastnor on Saturday (1pm start).
