STOURPORT have still not been able to put two consecutive wins together after going down by 89 runs at home to fellow strugglers Eastnor.

The Division One tie saw the visitors win the toss and choose to go into bat, with Eastnor’s openers getting their side off to a good start.

Mohammad Hasnain (41) and captain Tareq Jamil (40) were followed at the crease by the pick of the away team’s batters in Waqas Ahmed whose top score of 72 was finally brought to an end through a LBW call.

Stourport’s bowlers had a decent match with Matthew Delo taking 3-40, including those of both openers, but Craig Siwicki’s four wicket haul for 28 runs knocked out much of Eastnor’s lower order, leaving the home side a total of 243 to chase.

It was with the bat where Stourport struggled, with Mitchell Dwyers’ 33 being the team’s highest score, and only opener Ryan Derrick (25) and Charlie Foley (27) made it past a quarter of a century.

After starring against Colwall last weekend, Greg Massingham didn’t fare as well this weekend taking 0-42 off seven overs with the ball, and then being bowled first ball when he stepped up to the crease.

Eastnor’s Raheel Lone (3-28) and Husnain (3-39) were the pick of the bowlers in the second innings, managing to halt Stourport on 154.

With their current record of win one week, lose the next, Stourport supporters might be optimistic with the side’s trip to Hagley on Saturday (1pm start).
