KIDDERMINSTER Cricket Club's first team cricket captain Neil Pinner scooped the club’s Player of the Year award for the second year running.

Pinner batted a personal best for KCC, achieving 1,054 runs in 23 innings, taking 18 wickets and making the highest number of catches for the club with 16 – including some that were sensational.

Young Player of the Year was awarded to 17-year-old Sam Beadsworth, also for the second consecutive year, at last Friday’s club awards night.

He scored 1,033 runs for KCC, including five centuries, captained the Sunday League second XI team for the first time and took over at the helm of the second XI Birmingham League team in August when the captain was forced to resign for personal reasons.

Clubman of the Year was Mikey Mitchell, who broke through to be a more regular player in the first XI this season, with 17 appearances, plus four games for the second XI squad, for whom he scored a century.

The Denis Jones Award for outstanding contributions behind the scenes was presented to groundsman Chris Longmore.

Captains’ Player of the Year awards went to Liam Weston (1st XI), Godfrey Lamb (2nd XI), George Davis (3rd XI), Rhodri Morson (4th XI) and Joe Hallowell (Sunday 2nd XI).
