KIDDERMINSTER produced their performance of the season to send second placed Spartans packing at Marlpool Lane.

The Carolians made it three wins on the bounce with an impressive performance which eases their relegation fears in Midlands Two West (North).

KCs were quick out of the blocks and with ten minutes gone took the lead after a knock-on advantage in their own half which allowed winger Ryan Tiene to kick the ball downfield.

He kept control and touched down wide out for an opportunist try which was excellently converted by scrum-half Freddie Morgan.

After a promising start Kiddermister's performance level dropped, they began to concede penalties while creaking in the scrums and lineouts.

Spartans fly-half Tom Hardy missed a very kickable shot at goal from around thirty metres and it took a tremendous try saving tackle by Morgan at the corner to deny the visitors.

When a snatched KCs clearance kick failed to make any distance the resulting lineout possession saw Spartans win another penalty and Hardy made no mistake.

However twenty five minutes of relentless Spartans pressure had only yielded three points and Kidder’s defiant defensive effort paid dividends two minutes before the interval.

A good carry by centre Ryan Wainwright from scrum possession on KC’s ten metre line set up ruck phases before skipper Chris Pinner saw a gap and made a telling break which sent in Tiene for his second try.

Freddie Morgan added the extras and the home side went into the interval with a 14-3 lead.

Kidderminster piled on the pressure after the restart and any Spartans attacks were repelled by strong defence.

After twelve minutes a Spartans knock-on just inside their own ten metre line gave KCs a scrum in a dangerous position.

Jess Smith and blindside Rob Phillips made deep inroads and the move was finished off by left wing Arthur Morgan for a well-worked try.

KC's back row was becoming increasingly influential and straight from the re-start Phillips made a storming run which sparked another sweeping attack.

When they dropped the ball in midfield it was booted towards the goal line by Pinner and although he just lost out in the foot race Spartans were forced to concede a five metre scrum.

A penalty from the scrum was kicked to touch five metres out by Pinner and a short throw to the front was followed by a well-organised drive which saw flanker Mike Protheroe plunge over for a fourth bonus point try which was converted by Morgan.

Kidderminster were irrepressible and Smith added another try which, after Morgan converted, made the final score KCs 33 - 3 Spartans Next week KCs host Crewe & Nantwich (2.15pm).
