Stourport win Plate

STOURPORT seniors saw off Bournemouth to win the England Masters over-40s Plate in Cannock.

Two goals in either half for David Knott and Andy Watson settled the win for Stourport’s senior side, in what was an extremely hard fought match.

The Wyre Forest outfit went ahead in the first half when Knott converted a penalty corner. This was followed up in the second half with a second through Watson, whose shot rocketed into the far corner of the net.

The path to gold began after they’d been knocked out in the third round of the over-40’s cup.

Once entered in the Plate, Stourport defeated Hereford 6-3, Burton 13-1 and in the semi-finals Keswick 11-1.
