Rene hits four goals in victory

STOURPORT Hockey Club’s ladies were in friendly action at the weekend.

The seconds saw off Felstead School 8-0, with Rene Johnson bagging four goals.

Liz Warne (2), Leanne Bennett and Amy Miiller also hit the back of the net.

Meanwhile the thirds travelled to under strength Redditch to play against the home club as part of their open day celebrations.

Stourport donated two of their players in rotation to ensure that both had 11-a-side throughout the match and the visitors lost 7-0.

A mixed fourths and fifths side got the better of Worcester 4ths 6-1.

Both sides had their chances before Stourport opened the scoring through Teri Baron.

Worcester was still very much in this match, however, and equalised after the hosts failed to clear a short corner properly.

Jean Senior restored Stourport’s lead just before the break.

The second half continued at a similar pace to the first, and ten minutes into the it, Rosie Williams bagged a brace to underline the home side’s superiority.

Hazel Claris and Senior then completed the scoring.

Meanwhile, the newly-promoted first team, who will be playing in the Conference West, continue their build-up to the season with a trip to Beeston on Saturday.
