STOURPORT Ladies experienced mixed results in the league and cup at the weekend.
They bagged their second win of the season in the Investec Women’s Conference West by seeing off Taunton Vale 3-0 on Saturday.
But the in the EHA Cup they went down 5-1 to Premier Division outfit University of Birmingham on Sunday.
On Saturday, Stourport were too strong for their hosts Taunton. Sarah Cavendish fired them ahead in the first-half after good play by Lora Symonds and Sade Gerald.
Lauren Shilvock nearly added a second but saw her firm shot fly just wide.
The home side tried to rally after the break but Cavendish scored her second goal, before Symonds completed the scoring with a reverse stick finish.
On Sunday, Stourport found their higher ranked visitors too hot to handle.
They were trailing 2-0 before Cavendish pulled a goal back from a short corner.
But Birmingham made it 3-1 soon after and two goals in the second half saw off Stourport.
Kerry Maughan and Rene Johnson both had outstanding matches for the home side.
Stourport entertain Isca University on Saturday (noon start).
Lauren Homer was the player of the match as the seconds were edged out 1-0 by Edgbaston in the West Midlands Feeder League.
Meanwhile, the thirds lost to Worcester seconds 5-1 in the Worcestershire Division One, with Rose Lewis scoring a consolation goal.
In Division Two, Stourport’s fourths went down 9-1 to Kings Heath. Eleanor Johnson was on target and Ellie Baxter was player of the match.
Chris Corcoran bagged a hat-trick for the fifths in Division Three as they Bromsgrove’s thirds 4-0.
