Samurai enjoy fine medal haul

SAMURAI juniors came away with 11 medals at the Coventry Minimon last weekend including two golds.

Nathan Gallacher won four contests out of four in considerable style to take the gold medal in his category, which was higher grade lightweights.

Also in the boys but in the lower grades, James Hemer reached his final before his only defeat of the day and had to settle for silver. There were also bronze medals for Cameron Hobby, Kieran Gallacher, Joe Edwards, William Taylor and Aiden Preedy.

In the girls lower grades, Toni Poulsom reached her final which she was dominating but then got caught on the ground and had to settle for silver.

Eleanor Arnull and Hettie Tinsdale were in the same category and met in the semi-final, with the latter going on to take gold and the former bronze.

In the girls higher grades, Bryony Griffiths was the only Samurai entrant and did well to reach her final which she was winning until she too was caught in a groundhold.

The 10-year-old actually won the tournament and is unbeaten in her age group this year.
