Wonder Warwick hits hole-in-one
8:00am Friday 19th October 2012 in Local
WARWICK Phillips bagged his first hole-in-one at Burlish Park GC during the club’s monthly stableford seniors competition.
It was a tough ask on the challenging par three 10th hole but Phillips, 62, avoided the trees and grass bunker to land the shot.
The Redditch resident is his first year at Burlish Park. He and Geoff Unitt will be looking for more success when they contest a pairs final tomorrow.
Unitt said: “I think Warwick was a little surprised. Everyone was shaking his hand but I think it took a while to sink in.”
Meanwhile, the men’s October stableford at Cleobury Mortimer saw some of the best scoring of the year.
However, the players at the top of the leaderboard were the ones that have been working hard in developing their games over the last six weeks.
Paul Hannah topped Division Two with 39 points but it Division One was where the real magic was happening.
Tom Pain finished third with 39 points, not bad considering he had zero points after the first hole.
Will Edwards continued his fine form with 40 points which now sees his handicap cut by two. The star of the day though was Andy Galliard who shot a superb 41 points.
