Bayern Munich are through to the Champions League semi-finals for the seventh time in nine years after a 0-0 draw in their quarter-final second leg with Sevilla.
The stalemate at the Allianz Arena means Bayern’s 2-1 first-leg win in Spain last week was enough for them to progress to the last four, extending their impressive recent record in this competition.
It was far from a vintage Bayern display as they were kept from scoring in the opening 45 minutes for only the third time in 50 games while they also were denied victory on home soil for just the third occasion this season.
For Sevilla, it could have been different had Joaquin Correa’s header gone in instead of hitting the crossbar, but in truth a comeback in a week of comebacks in the Champions League never looked likely.

Star man – Steven Nzonzi
In a game where no-one really shone for Bayern, Nzonzi stood out for Sevilla in the middle of the park. He broke down play well, passed more times than anyone else on the pitch and also carried a goal threat.
Moment of the match
If Sevilla were going to mount an impressive comeback then they needed Joaquin Correa’s flying header to go a few inches lower and go into the corner instead of crashing into the crossbar. It was the closest the Spanish side came to scoring and it would have been a different final 30 minutes had it gone in.
Data point
Sevilla’s impressive first-half display at the Allianz Arena ensured it was a rare Bayern drought in the opening 45 minutes.
