ROD Brown is confident Stourport Swifts will start moving up the Midland Alliance table once the goals start flowing.

Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Loughborough University means Stourport are third from bottom after only one win in six games.

They had been trailing to a penalty only for Jon Griffin to level it up from the spot late on.

Brown said: “I was pleased with the draw and the performance.

“You always want to win matches but I thought we played well.

“We’re just missing goals at the moment but once we click we will dramatically move up the table.”

Swifts were given a lift this week with the news that striker Lewis Pountney can resume training after being sidelined through injury for several months.

The club are also looking to bolster their midfield options by adding former Evesham United player Simon Fitter to the squad this evening.

Meanwhile, James Blake and Tim Jackson will miss Saturday’s home clash against Shepshed Dynamo in the league (3pm ko).

Stourport then go to Tipton Town next Wednesday (7.45pm ko).

Brown added: “It will take a few weeks for Lewis to get back to fitness but that’s good sign for us.

“Apart from the losses to Kirby Muxloe and Tividale in the FA Cup we’ve played well but we’ve lacked goals.”
