Continental Star 2, Stourport Swifts 1

Stourport’s dismal away form continued as they went down to struggling Continental Star.

And it was a last minute goal that handed the home side victory – just their second in the league all season.

Star had a chance to open the scoring on 11 minutes but Franklin Hazel sent his header over the crossbar. At the other end, Calvin Dinsley picked out Jamie Willetts in the centre but his header was too weak to trouble the keeper.

The breakthrough came on 31 minutes when the ball fell for Star’s Davion Hamilton and his shot was deflected past the wrong-footed Lewis Solly in the Swifts goal.

But the visitors were back on level terms by the break, Chris Morrison heading in a Jordan Jones free-kick at the far post four minutes before half-time.

Chances were few and far between in the second half and Stourport’s best effort fell to Morrison but his shot was easily dealt with by keeper Gavin Ellis.

Hazel thought he had restored Star’s lead only to see his shot hit the post before Solly leapt on the loose ball. It was teenager Simeon Courbourne who finally secured the points in the final minute, pouncing on a defensive mix-up to stab home.
