RELIEVED Rod Brown couldn’t hide his delight this week as Stourport Swifts picked up maximum points after pulling off a 3-1 win over Heath Hayes.

Brown said: “It was our best performance of the season and just like watching the Swifts of old playing free flowing football.

“We bossed the game from start to finish and that’s the first time I can say that this season.

“That was after we went 1-0 down, totally against the run of play.

“In truth, we should should have won by more goals — but the result was the most postive thing. Even when we have won games this season, we’ve not played particularly well, but this was more like it. There was a passion and desire which we’ve not shown all season.”

Brown will want more of the same this Saturday when Swifts entertain Coventry Sphinx at Walshes Meadow in another Midland Alliance match.

Striker Chris Morrison is set to return after shaking off a bout of flu, while 18-year-old James Lemon is available again after being on the bench for Worcester City in their FA Cup clash with Lincoln City.

Brown is also bidding to boost his squad in the knowledge that both Lewis Pountney and Kevin Spencer have been sidelined with long term injuries.

He is chasing former Kidderminster Harriers and AFC Telford defender Michael Briscoe, who is currently on Stourbridge’s books, but has more recently been turning out for Midland Alliance rivals Causeway United.
