Stourport Swifts 5, Dunkirk 0

STRIKER Jon Griffin scored a six-minute hat-trick to help Stourport to a convincing victory over their Nottinghamshire visitors.

But the drama began even before kick-off with the referee unable to make it to Walshes Meadow due to the closure of the M42 near Bromsgrove.

The game was just four minutes old when Griffin scored the first of his treble, drilling a half-volley past Dunkirk keeper Jake Want.

Two minutes later and he struck again, this time firing home after a neat exchange of passes with Paul Hurrell.

Griffin’s hat-trick was complete on ten minutes with another calm finish and there was a fourth for Rod Brown’s side midway through the half when James Lemon scored off the underside of the bar following good work from Jordan Jones and Calvin Dinsley.

The visitors finally forced Swifts keeper Haydn Whitcombe into action on 23 minutes when he did well to keep out a Ricardo Reid shot.

Any slim hopes Dunkirk had of making a comeback were ended just four minutes into the second half when Dinsley launched a free-kick into the area and Jamie Hyde was on hand to head home unchallenged.

With a five-goal lead, the Swifts eased off for the remainder of the game but still denied the visitors any clear chances to test keeper Whitcombe.
