DELIGHTED boss Rod Brown believes Causeway United will be the biggest test of Stourport Swift’s good form.

The Walshes Meadow outfit face a tricky trip to the Black Country to take on the side who are one place above them in fifth and lead by just four points.

Swifts go into the clash (3pm ko) on the back of a four match winning streak but Andy Mole’s team are themselves on a high after they trounced Dudley Town 4-1 in the FA Vase on Sunday.

It’s also a swift return to Causeway for Stourport’s new player-coach Michael Briscoe, who left the Halesowen-based side for the Wyre Forest last week.

“I am really looking forward to the Causeway game, it’s going to be our most difficult match we’ve had over the five games,” said Brown.

“Causeway will get in our faces and make it difficult for us and I think this game will tell us where we are in terms of the league.”

Swifts though will be in confident mood as striker Jon Griffin hit top gear with a six minute hat-trick in Saturday’s 5-0 demolition of Dunkirk.

James Lemon and Jamie Hyde bagged more goals as Stourport put the game beyond their stunned opponents early in the second half.

Brown said: “We were magnificent on Saturday and it’s the best we played all season.”

A weakened Stourport side were edged out 2-1 in the JW Hunt Cup by Black Country Rangers on Tuesday night.

Griffin continued his excellent form with a leveller but Rangers edged Stourport out with a late goal.

Keeper Lewis Solly and Gary Walker, who both were rested on Tuesday night, are set to return for Saturday’s clash.

Striker Lewis Pountney also gave Swifts a lift as he was given the all-clear to return to training after six months out injured.
