Stourport Swifts 3, Continental Star 0

Stourport continued their climb up the table with this victory over lowly Continental Star – a sixth straight league win for Rod Brown’s side.

And they were handed the perfect start with star man Jordan Jones netting the opener inside just nine minutes.

Star were the last team to take points from Swifts in the Midland Alliance – a 2-1 win back at the start of October.

But this was never going to be a repeat performance once Jones had volleyed in a Chris Seekings cross from a narrow angle.

The home side doubled their lead on 35 minutes when Jones turned provider, his cross picking out James Lemon who netted from close range via the upright.

Three minutes later and there was almost a third for Swifts when Jamie Willetts rose to meet a corner but his header was directed straight at the keeper.

The visitors came more into the game at the start of the second half with Anthony Robinson firing wide before Josh O’Garro sent a free-kick over the target.

At the other end, Calvin Dinsley and Lemon were inches away from turning home a low Jon Griffin cross before substitute Dimitri Brown completed the scoring 12 minutes from time after a clever exchange of passes on the edge of the area.
