Heather St John’s 0, Stourport Swifts 3

Stourport eased to a convincing victory at lowly Heather without ever getting out of third gear.

Two goals in the opening 20 minutes put them in control and the job was completed within the first few moments of the second half.

Full-back Jordan Jones struck the opening goal on 13 minutes, rounding off a fine passing move that carved open the home defence.

Jones then turned provider, floating a cross to the far post where Jon Griffin was on hand to head home.

Heather’s best chance of the half came just two minutes later when Richard Lonsdale let fly with a shot that struck the upright.

Two minutes into the second half and Jamie Willetts forced a good save from the keeper. But he did find the net on 49 minutes when, from a corner, he steered his header into the back of the net.

A below-par game threatened to boil over in the closing minutes. Stourport midfielder Gary Walker was sent off on 85 minutes after picking up a second booking. And with time almost up, a challenge on Calvin Dinsley led to a scuffle and the home side were also reduced to ten men.
