Stourport Swifts 2, Tipton Town 0

Stourport earned their fifth win in seven games as they swept aside in-form Tipton Town at Walshes Meadow.

Lewis Pountney and Jordan Jones netted second half goals with young keeper Sam Hawker saving a last minute penalty to give the hosts a deserved three points.

Rod Brown’s men came into the game on the back of an impressive midweek victory over Loughborough University and they started in impressive fashion with top scorer John Griffin almost breaking the deadlock inside two minutes but failed to find the net after rounding visiting stopper James Pemberton.

The home side continued to press with Chris Morrison just unable to connect with a fine Jones centre on ten minutes before Jamie Willets headed straight at Pemberton mid-way through the half.

Morrison should have added to his winner against Loughborough when put through on the break but fired wide from an angle after rounding Pemberton.

The hosts deservedly took the lead three minutes after the break, Calvin Dinsley’s corner picking out Pountney who thumped in a header for his second in three games.

Danny Ashton curled an effort wide for Town who arrived on the back of a nine-match unbeaten run.

But Swifts always looked the more likely to add to the scoreline with the rampant Jones having an effort pushed onto a post.

In a carbon copy Stourport doubled their advantage on 65 minutes, this time Jones finishing calmly.

With a minute to play, Ashley Parsons-Smith brought down Chris Rabone before Hawker excellently kept out Lee Wherton’s spot kick.
