Stourport Swifts 2, AFC Wulfrunians 2

DEFENDER Jamie Willets capped a Man of the Match display by bagging Stourport’s equaliser four minutes from the end of this absorbing clash.

Missed chances early on looked like proving costly for the Swifts as the visitors opened up a two-goal lead.

Michael Robertson scored the opener midway through the first half with a chip over keeper Sam Hawker from 20 yards.

Brad Lawler then put a free-kick inches wide of the Stourport upright before Andy Thompson doubled the Wulfs’ lead with a breakaway effort five minutes into the second half.

This was cruel on Stourport who had started the game the better. Visiting keeper Danny Tipton was forced into a save early on to keep out a Calvin Dinsley shot following good work from Lewis Pountney and Jordan Jones.

Moments later it was Pountney who went close with a shot that cleared the target.

And there was further anguish in the second half when Dinsley rose to head an Ashley Parsons-Smith cross goalwards only for Tipton to block his effort.

But Swifts finally found the net on 69 minutes when Willets headed on a corner and Pountney was on hand to volley home.

Rod Brown’s side then had to wait until the final few minutes before grabbing their equaliser, another Parsons-Smith corner not being dealt with by the visitors’ defence and Willets scored with a powerful header.
