Heath Hayes 1, Stourport Swifts 1

Stourport came from behind to secure a point against a Heath Hayes side battling to avoid the drop.

The home side made the perfect start, taking the lead after just ten minutes. Former Swifts defender Adam Robinson fired in a corner which was flicked on at the near post and Adam Green was on hand to volley home from close range.

Five minutes later and the visitors could have been level. A good build-up involving Jon Griffin and Jamie Hyde saw the ball worked to Ashley Parsons-Smith but his shot was blocked on the line.

Michael Briscoe then headed over the Heath Hayes crossbar before Lewis Pountney failed to get enough on his shot and keeper Adam Goodwin was able to save with ease.

Stourport’s equaliser came on the hour when the tireless Jordan Jones found the net from a tight angle following a goalmouth scramble.

Both sides had chances to snatch victory in the final few minutes. Ben Maddox met a corner two minutes from time but his header was well saved by Swifts keeper Sam Hawker while, for the visitors, Parsons-Smith fired over the target from inside the area.

Rod Brown’s Stourport are back in action on Tuesday (April 8) when former Midland Alliance leaders Highgate United are the visitors to Walshes Meadow.
