STOURPORT Swifts boss Rod Brown believes he may be on the brink of something special.

Brown, who has enjoyed promotions with Stourport and Redditch in the past feels his current crop of Swifts may be close to matching those achievements.

A goalless draw at promotion-chasing Boldmere followed a 2-1 win over improving Gornal Athletic in which fit-again Lewis Pountney scored both goal.

Brown said: “I feel we have the right ingedients to do really well in the Midland Alliance next season. We have a good mix of young and experienced players.

“The lads are keen to stay together and if we can add one or two more players we can be a real force.”

Swifts have four away games to finish the season, starting at Dunkirk on Saturday then tough trip toWestfields on Monday.

“If we can win those games we could finish as high as fifth which would be a fantastic achievement considering where we were at the start of the season. We had a poor start with players unavailable but the lads have come together really well now.

“We played really well at Boldmere, it was a very pleasing performance and it’s just a shame we are not in the mix.

“Having a lad come through the youth team like Luke Morris has been a real plus for us, he’s worked so hard and is a real prospect.”
