ROD Brown is hoping striker Luke Corbett will be able to recover from a lengthy injury and score goals for Stourport Swifts.

The former Leamington and Halesowen Town hitman is training with Stourport after a year out injured with knee cartilage problems.

It’s not expected that he will be available until nearly Christmas as he strives to build match fitness.

New addition Jermaine Clarke, who missed Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Brocton because of flu, is also set to add to their attacking options.

Brown said: “Jermaine will give us something extra.

“Luke has been out for a year and his doctor has said he can’t have any contact for two or three weeks.

“I’ve tried to sign him several times and he won’t be back until nearly Christmas.

“I am alway looking to add players who will improve the squad.”

Calvin Dinsley bagged a leveller from the spot last Saturday as the Walshes Meadow outfit were held by struggling Brocton.

“We had about ten chances but or strikers missed seven, so it was frustrating,” said the manager.

“At least we earned a point but we totally dominated and should have won the game.”

The players will be training in a free weekend and they resume action in the Midland Football League Premier next Wednesday at mid-table Continental Star (7.45pm kick-off).
