Stourport Swifts 6, Heath Hayes 1

FOUR goals from John Griffin helped a clinical Stourport Swifts claim their fifth win of the season in emphatic style as they demolished Heath Hayes.

First half goals from young full-back Ashley Parsons-Smith and defender Kevin Spencer completed the rout, leaving the visitors languishing near the foot of the table.

After a scrappy opening, Swifts took the lead with their first attack of the game after John Griffin was fouled 25 yards from goal and Spencer bundled home Calvin Dinsley’s pinpoint free-kick with just nine minutes on the clock.

Stourport doubled their lead on the half-hour mark after a clever run from Karl Fellows saw the midfielder thread a neat ball through to the lively Parsons-Smith who had the composure to calmly slot the ball past Tom Burns at the near-post.

The hosts’ domination continued as they trebled their lead before the break when visiting goalkeeper Burns fumbled Dinsley’s corner and Griffin was on hand to convert from close range.

Griffin made it four soon after the restart as he latched onto Lewis Pountney’s flick-on and dinked the ball over the advancing goalkeeper.

The visitors’ short-lived second half revival failed to yield a goal until the 79th minute, with Degville and Green’s guilt-edged misses typifying the away side’s miserable day, before Chris Geldart’s strike found the bottom corner.

But Griffin’s coolly converted an 81st minute spot-kick was followed by his fourth of the game, a fine finish that saw him jink past the Hayes stopper before slotting home to complete a convincing rout.
